FISHERIES & AQUACULTURE IMPROVEMENTS
The Asian Seafood Improvement Collaborative (ASIC) is a burgeoning regional collaboration between private sector stakeholders from Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam who have come together to tackle social and environmental sustainability challenges facing the Asian seafood industry.
Our mission is to empower Asian stakeholders to create pathways for seafood improvement that account for the social, environmental, and traceability challenges facing the region which accurately reward those producers who strive for the highest performance by connecting them with markets that can support the value of their products.
CHEF & RESTAURANT ENGAGEMENT
Through our work with the James Beard Foundation’s Smart Catch program, we provide guidance to over 300 chefs and help to asses and inspire a shift towards responsible seafood on menus across the nation.
Smart Catch is an educational sustainable seafood program that works to drive market share of sustainable seafood at the restaurant level by addressing the challenges of getting sustainable seafood to a diner’s plate, including reliable sourcing, chef training and consumer awareness.
WOMEN IN SEAFOOD
Women comprise half of the Southeast Asian seafood supply chain, yet continue to face a multitude of limitations that challenge their economic independence and well-being.
ASIC has partnered with the Oxfam Bender Transformative and Responsible Agribusiness Investments in South East Asia (GRAISEA) program, and we aim to create a new approach to handling gender inequality with aquaculture producers and processors in Indonesia and Vietnam. The program will tackle women’s economic empowerment in these communities through promoting capacity building program in farms and fisheries, and developing the ASIC Gender Inclusion Program and Social Standards to seafood producers.
CORPORATE CLIENT MANAGEMENT
We help decipher the world of sustainable seafood for our corporate clients and offer our support on all matters of sustainability including advising on seafood purchases, demonstrating social, environmental and food safety compliance, advising on key sustainability partnerships and engaging with client and external sustainability initiatives.
Many certifications and standards exist for both wild and farmed seafood, and it is critical to understand what they all mean and represent. Furthermore, monitoring supply chain compliance, international certification standards or retailer specific standards is complex and continuous. We use our expertise to evaluate sourcing, advise purchasing, develop goals, and help ensure that all seafood sourced meets the criteria specific to each client.
We have facilitated well over 50 meetings all around the world and have successful, proven processes and tools for running collaborative sessions.
Our approach is focused, pragmatic and encourages engagement. We provide end-to-end meeting facilitation services from strategic planning to process design, delivery and results reporting, and can help to make your next meeting or group decision making process more effective, efficient and successful.
